I feel like I can no longer respect this character… That is until the reboot is extricated from existence. It’s not even the fact that they’ve made her more scantly clad. It’s the fact that they have actually dumbed her down, and made her personality way to slutty. I have no problem with being loose; but Harley has always only ever had eyes for her Mistah J!
Also guys; I have something to add. This is NOT feminism in motion. This is NOT how a strong independent woman needs to be depicted in order to point out that she’s “independent”. What you see before you is nothing more than unnecessary tits and ass to appeal to the sexually frustrated pig demographic in comics. Who of which care less about characters, and more about their bra size. Am I glad Harley had the guts to move away from her abusive relationship? Sure. Do I think it’ll last? No… Harley’s been on and off with Mistah J long before she started wearing chains and whips. Stop fooling yourselves! This is not a new and impressionistic and powerful look. This is simply over sexualization for the sake of over sexualization. Nothing more, nothing less.
Rebloging this because it’s my most controversial post, and you know what? Despite the fact that a lot of people disagree with it (even if me defending a characters morals and intelligence is “sexist”, PS it’s NOT) I still stand by it 100% and I have no problem defending my opinion. You want to yell at me for saying she’s dressed like a slut, go ahead, because I didn’t draw her like a slut. And face it, she is drawn like one. A great character should not have to be stripped down both physically and mentally just for perverts to pick up the comics to stare at her anatomically incorrect tits. Not only is it a bad business move on DC’s part (seeing as more people dislike her like this than like her) but completely degrading. I will profess, I am happy that in some of the comics they made her crazy smart and badass, but I still shudder at the unneeded flashing of cashiers, the Assault on Arkham “cowboy” Deadshot sex scene, and the clown car jokes…. Lastly on a completely separate note; what the fuck is with anatomically incorrect position that most artists draw her in? Ass in the air, spine broken… It doesn’t seem like a really good fighting stance or a preferably comfortable stance in general, it just looks she’s ready for well, you know, what most creeps pick up the comics for… Just back to defend and stand by my opinion, that’s all.
